And the word of the year 2016 is...?
Oxford Dictionaries chose post-truth.
These are words that "feel true" but have no basis in fact.
It could be argued that this idea is not new. It wasn't too long ago that we had truthiness.
This is an idea that science educators struggle with in their teaching of how the world works. However, it has new currency, one emphasized by many politicians, especially and their followers.
