The Red Delicious apple was certainly red but not so delicious. Tough hide. Often mealy. Not much zing either.

NPR's Planet Money has a short segment about the apple that replaced it, the Honeycrisp. This apple was developed at the University of Minnesota, reason enough to post this short video about this innovation.
