The UN Climate Action Summit (September, New York City) and COP 25 (December, Santiago, Chile) are upcoming.
Swedish youth activist Greta Thunberg is attending both. You know that she refuses to fly because of the impact on the planet so how is she managing to do this?
As she says, "Good news." She is traveling by boat--a ~ 60-foot (18.28 meters) yacht, the Malizia 2. According to this report in Huff Post by Mark Visser, "the boat is fitted with solar panels and underwater turbines that produce its own electricity. The journey will take about two weeks, and she'll be joined by her father, a filmmaker and the boat's crew." The Thunberg's leave in mid-August.
Transportation from NYC to Santiago is likely to be a mix of trains and buses.
Visser's essay includes a few photographs, more details about the yacht, a video about her and a video on embracing plane-free travel.

Bon voyage!
