Greetings from Saint Paul, MN on the 227th day of the year, of which 62.02% is in the rear view mirror. Sunlight today lasts for 14h 05m 45s with the sun rising at 6:13 am and setting at 8:16 pm. It is National Creamsicle Day, an unofficial event but not a reason not to celebrate it. I love 'em.
Today's quote--the so-called first rule of virus economics--was stated by University of Chicago economist Austan Goolsbee. The best way to fix the economy is to get control of the virus.(In David Leonhardt NYT which includes an impressive illustration comparing the U. S. and several other nation's COVID-19 numbers. We have 4% of he world's populatoin but 22% of its COVED-19 deaths. Leonhardt tells us why.)
The celebratory poem by Pablo Neruda is this Friday's poem.
Mr. Neruda was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 1971.
