Friday Poem

Environmental & Science Education, Poetry, Art and Environment

Ed Hessler

Good morning from the Center for Global Environmental Education, Hamline University on the 155th day of 2021, June 4. Already 42.47% of the year is behind us.

Today there are 15h 23m 25s of sunlight with the sun rising at 5:27am and setting at 8:52pm. June is the month of two summers, the first, Meteorological Summer began on June 1, and the second, Summer Solstice will start at 10:31pm CT on June 20. Here the difference between them is explained.

It is National Cheese Day and Foodimentary tells us a few cheese facts and includes the usual fascinating food history. I didn't know that there were more than 2000 cheeses.

Quote: Being alive is gardening and cooking and birds and green and blue, at the very least.--Charles Bowden

Today's poem is by the late Donald Hall.
