A couple of weeks ago Nikon Small World announced the Winners of the 47th Annual Photomicrography Photo Competition. The competition "was created to show the world how art and science come together under the microscope." 

All the winners may be viewed here, including  honorable mentions and images of distinction. There is information about the judges, too.  One of the images of distinction is a favorite: a pollen grain on a crocus flower.

Micro and macro--this world is endlessly, fascinating and each year there are new surprises to behold, surprise and please the eye.
