Happy New Year!
--“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” —Hal Borland
Minnesotans, including transplants like me, like talking about our weather. I think we talk more about it than people in most other states. For many, interest is more than mere surface chatter. Weather events can change rapidly and are influenced by where we are located - influenced by southern, western and northwestern events and prevailing patterns throughout the year.
So in saying goodbye to 2022 and welcoming 2023, it seems only fair to start with the previous year's big weather events.
The MnDNR has selected the top five weather events of 2022.
This is how the votes were solicited and cast. "Votes were cast from various weather enthusiasts including the National Weather Service, the University of Minnesota, State agencies and Facebook followers."
