The position of the hands on the Doomsday Clock have not changed from last year. The time is still 90 seconds to midnight, according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. This is their measure of how close humanity is to global catastrophe.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists made the announcement on January 23, 2024. There you may view the panel discussion about the decision (It is more than an hour long.); read the statement and press release; Doomsday Clock conversations (Comments from social media); and the USA Today Op-Ed.
The Wiki entry describes the DD Clock's history; the basis for the settings; fluctuations and trends; resistance (Among the critics is cognitive psychologist Steven Pinker.); the timeline from the first announcement to present; and the DD clock in popular culture.
