MPR correspondent Dan Gunderson (Moorhead, MN) reports on reusing discarded materials used in an art installation in the Detroit Lakes (MN) area.
The sculptures - nine of them, five of which are giant trolls, are the creation of Danish sculptor Thomas Dambo with the help of many volunteers. All of the sculptures are impressively large and made from discarded materials, many salvaged from dumps.
Only one of them is easy to find - in Detroit Lake City Park where the troll Alexa is spinning an elixir and a fairy tale is found to find the others. This appears to require some sleuthing.
Gunderson's reporting includes photographs and an outcome that is surprising and pleasing.
